Hey everybody, welcome to my first ever weapon guide for Black Ops 2. Yes I know it's a little late for this, but as soon as COD Ghosts come out, this blog will be overflowing.
The Type 25 is a partially-fictional weapon based on the Chinese QBZ-95, a slow-firing bullpup assault rifle designed for high damage and penetration.
This weapon was also seen in Modern Warfare 3 as the Type 95. There it was a 3-round burst weapon. A damage of 55 along with the highest accuracy and mobility in its class. So here we had a two shot kill, accurate, mobile and fast-firing gun. No wonder it was looked at as overpowered.
Performance
The Type 25 is the complete opposite of the QBZ-95, with low damage and a fast fire rate. It deals 33 damage up close and drops off to 24 at a distance. Which means it has a 4 shot kill potential, up until further away taking 5 shots to kill. The Type 25 has a head-shot multiplier of 1.1 and the highest fire rate for the assault rifle category of 937 rounds per minute.
The reload time for this is slow, especially considering the fact that it can burn through its magazine in a few seconds. This can also increase the need for scavenger. Reloading with rounds left in the magazine will get you a 2.37 reload time, and with nothing left in there, it will take 3.05 seconds to reload. This makes the Type 25 heavily reliant on the 'fast mag' attachment.
For other Call of Duty games, this weapon has been extremely overpowered and used by virtually every player. Although it is still one of the most used guns in Black Ops 2 today, Treyarch has finally weakened this gun, maybe too much, and is now buffing it again. Things have being improved in this gun with each update, such as increased hip-fire accuracy, longer 4-shot-kill range and better mobility.
The slow killing time is one of the main reasons people don't use it as much as they should. Because despite the low damage, this high fire-rate means that missing shots from this weapon won't matter as much as if you were using a slow-firing weapon like the Scar H.
About the iron sights; yes I like them, they are one of the cleanest in the game and I manage fine using them. With laser sight however, half the iron sights gets blocked and that gives me another reason to use an optic. For some people, the iron sights by themselves may be obstructive, but this is just my personal opinion.
So basically, this weapon is a long-range SMG - a hybrid, in other words. Because of this long-range potential, it's recommended that you use attachments to fully implement that.
Reflex Sight
This is good, especially for close-range, if you find that the iron sights on this gun block your view too much.
Quickdraw
This counteracts the slow killing time and for me, this is the best attachment, as you want to make sure to start shooting the other guy first.
Fast Mag
The Type 25 is a slow-reloading weapon, so this attachment is good if you go rushing and find yourself killed while reloading too often.
ACOG Scope
This is an alright-ish attachment, definitely implementing your long-range potential, but it's meant for those engagements only and will actually lessen your performance at close-range.
Foregrip
Yes I know, this is a useless attachment for most weapons, but according to drift0r, this gun actually gets slightly more affected than others.
Adjustable Stock
The Type 25 becomes formidable when using this attachment. You can use it with quickdraw, or replace it if you know to pre-aim around corners.
Target Finder
I wouldn't recommend this so much as it's meant for spotting people hiding somewhere at long-distances. Not where they're right in your face.
Laser Sight
This is good because it SMG-ifies your gun even further, increasing your hip-fire accuracy to an SMG standard and making the Type 25 a more versatile gun.
Select Fire
It does make your gun more accurate and faster shooting, but your 4-shot-kill and not-so-good range means select fire works better on other, higher ranged weapons.
EOTech Sight
This attachment is very good if you're not so much as a rusher and like to take it slow and easy, because this is meant for close-medium to medium gunfights.
Suppressor
If you're going to rush and not give your enemies the long-range gunfights they desire, then this will keep you off the radar and'll definitely help to keep you alive for longer.
FMJ
Not recommended, unless you like to shoot through walls a lot. FMJ doesn't increase your damage at all, unless through walls or at an enemy scorestreak reward.
Hybrid Optic
If you like the long-range ACOG scope, but hate the close-range disadvantage it has, then this will eliminate the problem, being an ACOG and reflex sight at the same time.
Extended Clip
This increases your magazine capacity by 30-33%, and on top of this, it also increases your total ammunition by 33%. This can replace scavenger.
Grenade Launcher
This has been weakened quite a bit since other Call of Duty games. But it's still good to take out campers or enemies at a domination flag. Otherwise, save that point.
MMS
This is a reflex sight that sees stationary enemies through cover. It can let you know of an enemy's presence before you even meet, giving you the edge over your opponent.
Perks
The ones that are almost vital to this weapon, are scavenger and dexterity. Scavenger giving you an almost limitless supply of bullets, which you could run out of real fast, and dexterity to lessen the consequences of sprinting around corners with an enemy lying in wait.

The Verdict
This is a very good close to medium-range assault rifle, competing with the SMG's at close range, and other assault rifles at medium range. Possibly one of the most versatile weapons in the game, and because of that, the right setup depends on how you play. Medium-range attachments work well in this weapon as well as close-range ones. You need to go find out what's best for you.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Please tell me if you find any mistakes or anything to improve on, because it'll really help. I hope you enjoy yourself playing this game. Tell me in the comments which weapon I should do next. See you soon.
